biography

Dr. Vincent Pierce is a multi-faceted musician, equally at home performing orchestral, chamber and solo music, teaching students of all ages, and performing for events of all types throughout the Bay Area. Dr. Pierce is also a composer, writing works for harp in various settings. He is also passionate about electroacoustic harp, a new medium that offers expansive creative possibilities.

Dr. Pierce holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baylor University, where he began studies as a clarinetist. Upon beginning harp lessons at 19, he quickly fell in love with the instrument and went on to receive a Master of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in harp performance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Pierce also served as adjunct instructor of harp at Odessa College and The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, helping to advance the careers of several wonderful students. Dr. Pierce served as a harp instructor for the Round Rock Independent School District harp program from 2021-2023, where he taught private lessons and group classes for students in 6th-12th grades and presented the annual RRISD Harp Festival with his fellow harp instructors.

Dr. Pierce is passionate about music education, and has been an active member of the Texas Music Educator’s Association (TMEA). In 2017 he presented a TMEA clinic entitled “Music for Harp and Young Strings” with Dr. Jan Garverick, and has also served as an All-State harp panel judge and sectional coach. In 2022, he was invited to serve as clinician for the TMEA Region 13 Harp Ensemble in Ft. Bend, Texas. Dr. Pierce is also passionate about advocating for the harp, and has served in several roles with the American Harp Society (AHS), including as national board member and South Central Regional Director and as local chapter president for the West Texas and Austin chapters of the AHS. He currently serves on the IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) committee for the AHS, working to better serve the harp community.
